Homework help for ages 6–18 · 21 curricula

Homework help that builds understanding — not dependency.

Convo never gives homework answers. Instead, it asks exactly the right question at the right moment — guiding your child to the answer themselves and building real, lasting understanding that shows up in tests, not just on today's worksheet.

How a Convo homework session works

Every session follows the Socratic method — the same technique used by the world's best tutors for over two thousand years.

01

Your child describes the problem

They just talk to Convo: reading out the question, explaining what they're stuck on, or asking where to start. No typing required — just conversation.

02

Convo asks the first guiding question

Instead of explaining the answer, Convo asks a question that points your child toward the right thinking: 'What do you already know about fractions?'

03

Your child works through it

Convo listens, encourages, and keeps guiding — adjusting its questions based on each response. Never giving the answer, always helping your child get there themselves.

04

They find it themselves

When your child gets it right, Convo celebrates the discovery and asks a follow-up to deepen understanding — not just tick the box and move on.

"Why won't you just tell me the answer?"

Every child asks this eventually. Convo's answer is always the same: because you already have what you need to figure it out — and finding it yourself is the part that actually sticks.

Research on learning consistently shows that retrieval practice and guided discovery produce far stronger retention than passive explanation. When a child works through a problem with the right questions, the understanding is theirs — not borrowed from a tutor, and not forgotten by Tuesday.

Convo is specifically designed so that copying its answers is impossible. You can only make progress by thinking — which is why it builds genuine confidence, not just completed homework.

What generic AI does

"The answer is $6.00. To solve this, multiply $0.75 by 8. Here's the formula: unit rate × quantity = total."

Child copies answer. Homework done. Nothing learned.

What Convo does

"Let's think about the cost of just one pound first. If 5 pounds cost $3.75, what would you do to find one pound?"

Child thinks. Child works it out. Understanding sticks.

Real homework sessions, across subjects and ages

Here's what Socratic homework help actually sounds like — for different subjects and different age groups.

Primary · Ages 9–10
Child:I have to do 347 times 6 but I don't know where to start.
Convo:Let's break it down one step at a time. What's 6 times 7?
Child:42!
Convo:Perfect — so we write the 2 and carry the 4. Now what's 6 times 4?
Child:24, plus the 4 we carried… 28!
Convo:Exactly right. And finally — what's 6 times 3?
Child:18, plus 2 carried… 20! So it's 2082!
Convo:You did every step yourself. Let's try one more to make sure it sticks.

Convo never gives the answer. Every response guides your child to think harder.

Adapts to every age — from 6 to 18

Homework looks completely different at different ages. Convo adjusts its vocabulary, depth, and approach automatically based on your child's age and curriculum level.

Ages 6–8

Early primary

Convo uses simple language, short questions, and lots of encouragement. Every small win is celebrated. Sessions are short and focused — building foundational confidence above all.

  • Learning to read: sounding out tricky words
  • Adding and subtracting with mental strategies
  • Understanding 'how' and 'why' questions in simple texts
Ages 9–11

Upper primary

Convo introduces more structured reasoning — asking children to explain their thinking, not just give answers. The Socratic method deepens here: 'Why does that method work?'

  • Long multiplication and division methods
  • Fractions, decimals, percentages
  • Paragraph writing with evidence and explanation
Ages 12–14

Lower secondary

Convo expects more — longer reasoning chains, multi-step problems, and structured written answers. It helps students understand exam command words and mark-scheme thinking.

  • Algebraic manipulation and equations
  • Essay arguments with source evidence
  • Scientific explanations with mechanism
Ages 15–18

Senior secondary & post-16

At this level, Convo goes deep. It supports A-Level, GCSE, IB Diploma, AP and equivalent exam preparation — helping students understand mark schemes, construct extended arguments, and think like examiners.

  • GCSE/IGCSE exam technique and command words
  • A-Level and IB extended essay structure
  • AP-level problem-solving and analysis

When words aren't enough — the shared whiteboard

Some problems need a diagram. When your child is trying to understand a geometry problem, a number line, or a science diagram, Convo can bring up a shared drawing space — a whiteboard that both of them can use.

Convo might draw a rough number line to explain fractions, or ask your child to sketch a triangle before working out angles. Visual learning built into every session.

Child:I can't picture what a scalene triangle looks like.
Convo:Let me draw one for you! [opens whiteboard] — can you see the three sides are all different lengths? Now try drawing one yourself — any three lines that don't match.
Child:Oh — like that? With none of the sides the same?
Convo:Exactly right. Now — how does that differ from what an isosceles triangle would look like?
